There are so many different watches out there that the vast variety of options can
simply overwhelm someone who doesn’t know what to look for.
Whether you are looking for a casual watch or an automatic watch formal events, you’ve
got to know what to expect.
In this article, I will go over some of the things that you can expect on watches based on
certain price ranges. So, without further delay, here are the things that you should
expect in…

Entry-Level Watches

These watches range anywhere between $200-$500. They are usually what most
people would buy as an initial investment and they are looking for quality regardless of
the smaller asking price. Here are the things that you should expect in entry-level

  • Solid Construction

Even though you are paying relatively less money than
more expensive watches, watches at this price point should still be built with solid
construction. For instance, if you are going for an all-metal watch, you should
expect them to use grade 316L stainless steel.

  • Sapphire Crystal

A watch crystal is that small glass material that often covers
the face of the watch. That being said, sapphire glass crystals are almost
unbreakable and will only crack under intense impact.

  • p class=”pbody”>Watch MovementAt this price, you can expect watches that use either the
Swiss or Japanese Watch movements. As much as possible, go for the Swiss watch movement
since they are always the most prominent ones.
However, Japanese watch movements are not at all bad.

Midrange Watches

These watches cost anywhere between $1000-$10000. You can expect much better
quality than entry-level watches and here are the things that you should expect:

  • Mechanical Watch Movement

Most of the watches at this price point all have a
mechanical watch movement. That is because it is the pinnacle of watchmaking and the old watches actually make use of this mechanism more than the Quartz.

  • Chronometer Certification

For a watch to have a Chronometer certification, it
must be sent to the COSC to be tested. The watch will undergo a series of tests,
but ultimately, the watches that pass are those that do not lose 4 seconds a day
or add 6 seconds a day.

  • Value Proposition

All of the watches that you can buy here are almost always
guaranteed to provide good value. Watches from Rolex, Breitling, and Omega,
for example, are well within this price point and you can expect to have a
timepiece that can last for a really long time.

Expensive Watches

These watches cost more than $20,000 and are considered ultra-luxury watches. Here
are the things that you can expect:

  • Inclusion of Precious Jewels

Whereas both of the previously mentioned price
ranges offer solid build and construction, ultra-luxury watches come with quality
and high-precious jewels as well. So, those watches that have diamonds
embedded on its bezel is quite common at this range.

  • In-House Movements

Although watch movements have become standardized
for the most part, some brands tweak some established watch movements to
    create their own.

  • Complications

These include features that are not present in less expensive
watches. Watch complications typically refer to unique designs and construction
that are only available in ultra-luxury watches.
